George Wilson

"I paint provincial landscape to carry the image of what it was once like before thoughtless mass construction and destruction. Thru self-development and searching for the aesthetic fullness in life, I spend hours in each paintings's environment in intimate rapport. I clean up the ecology by envisioning it unspoiled and offer order and beauty as an antidote to the void created by our fast pace of life. I paint to find a certain attitude or state in which I would like to be all my life. What I paint is where I am: captivating and experiencing beauty."

George R. Wilson attended the following art schools: BA and MFA from Ohio State University; Chinard Art School in L.A., CA; and Pratt Institute. George's professional experiences in the art world are varied and include art director in television, theatrical sets, and a secret Navy project in Adak, Alaska. George taught at the Hyde Collection, Glens Falls, NY, and was a member of the Pen and Brush League and the Columbus Artists Association, both in OH, as well as Art Students League in NYC. After a long career in fine arts, George moved to Washington County where he "caught the feeling of this country in a given season at a particular time of day." George R. Wilson's paintings are in banks, hospitals, the Columbus Gallery of Fine Art, and numerous private collections. He was also listed in Art in America-Source book to the U.S. Art World. George passed away in 1999.
