"We are so fortunate to be surrounded by so much natural beauty! I am always aware of how the light or absence of light changes the ever shifting abstract drama in this landscape. This is all a source of inspiration to me and the work I endeavor to create."
Catherine’s formal art education started at the University of Cincinnati where she was a design student pursuing a degree in fashion design. In her second year of study, she decided to change paths and study at the Art Academy of Cincinnati. She graduated with a fine arts certificate and later finished her academic degree at the University of Cincinnati evening college.
After graduation Catherine worked in advertising and eventually freelanced as a designer and illustrator. After moving to NY state, painting started to dominate her creative efforts. Catherine and her husband have lived in or near Saratoga Springs, NY since 1990. Her early years as a child were spent on her mother’s family farm in southern Ohio. She loved playing in the pastures with her siblings and being in the fields with her grandpa and his team of horses. She is sure that this love was the start of her interest in the open and rural landscape as a subject for her art.
